Landscape Project - Landscaping Ideas

What can I do to help improve the look of my yard in 2014?

One idea that you can consider for the upcoming spring and summer is to add some accent to your flower beds. We suggest (after clean up) adding a weed mat material and cover it with mulch or bark.

This little addition can help not only improve the look of your flower beds, but it reduces the maintenance that is required for those pesky weeds. The weed barrier doesn't allow weeds to grow freely and you can easily keep up on their growth without having to spend hours and hours hunched over.

You can select from a wide variety of mulch to add color into your front and back yards. We can help you take it a step further by adding perennial or annual plants.

We would be happy to give you a free quote to see what this would cost for your home or business. Please give us a call at 801-664-2488 or go to our website to fill out a contact form.

Sprinkler Problems? What to look for.

Sprinkler Problems?

With spring fast approaching you may experience broken sprinkler lines or broken sprinkler heads. It happens! What causes it? A variety of reasons (frozen water from the winter and time wear). I know this looks like a huge mess but it can easily be fixed.

You may even experience sprinkling system breaks during some of the warmer months. Again, It happens.

Things to look for...
A. Areas in your yard that are overly saturated (soggy).
B. Dry spots in your yard.
C. There is not enough pressure coming out of the sprinkler heads.
D. The most obvious - water shooting out of the ground.

What should you do? You can definitely contact us or call 801-664-2488 to look at things. We take pride in assessing your sprinkler problem areas and providing reasonable quotes to help you get it fixed. A proper functioning sprinkling system is vital to having a beautiful green lush grass.

5 Lawn Care Tips for Utah

Please excuse the phrase “Is the grass always greener?” The short answer is yes if you want it to be. Our knowledge of lawn care in Utah tells us that if you follow these 5 simple steps you can have the beautiful green lawn that makes you feel proud. If you are not getting the results that you want please contact us for an honest assessment and how we can help.

  • Lawn care – Cut your lawn with sharp blades at an acceptable height. Cutting your lawn too short allows moisture to evaporate quicker and will not allow the lawn to get the needed moisture. You will in turn have brown spots or not a full green color.
  • Water your lawn – It helps to have an installed sprinkler system to make this easy but make sure you are watering deeply and infrequently. The logic that if I water a lot it should be greener does not always help matters. Have a consistent schedule and make sure you lawn is getting proper coverage in all areas.
  • Fertilize your lawn – We typically provide 4 applications starting in the spring, during the early summer, later summer, and into the fall. Fertilizer allows your lawn to get additional nutrients and promote growth. Look at local vendors like Intermountain Farmers who produce a product made for the inter-mountain region.
  • Control your weeds!  - Nothing chokes out your grass quicker than having to compete with weeds. The best way to do this is to apply a pre-emergent in the spring (coupled with fertilizer) and occasionally spot treat weeds that can pop up throughout the year. Make sure you know what you are doing when applying weed control to avoid killing your lawn.
  • It is okay to mulch – we advocate that you don’t always have to take the clippings off the lawn in bags. Mulching small lawn clippings allows nutrients to be recycled into the ground and promotes greener lawn. If you let your lawn get overgrown this tip will not help.
